
As some may have heard, Meryl Forman passed away recently after a battle against pancreatic cancer. Meryl was well known to many of us in the flow cytometry community, for her depth of knowledge of Immunology, cytometry, and how to make complex assays work. She was also known to some of us (the lucky ones) for her whit, her quick mind, her love of critical discussion, and her talent as a photographer. Meryl's obituary notice: Forman, Meryl Ann of Miami, formerly of Boston and Lynbrook, NY, passed away after a nearly two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. Beloved by all who knew her, daughter of the late Ida and Clarence (Larry) Glicksman, Meryl leaves behind a husband, Michael, a brother, Howard in Colorado and a sister Deena, in Massachusetts. Meryl, a biochemist with multiple patents in her name, worked at Coulter/BCI for over twenty-six years, managing multiple reagent development projects. Meryl's significant accomplishments during her Coulter/BCI years included the design & the development of tools used in the monitoring and treatment of HIV, leukemia and lymphoma. These tools, widely used throughout the world since 2004, have significant impact today. Meryl's degrees are from University of Buffalo and Northeastern University. Meryl, who was a mentor to many in her field, was also an avid photographer, world traveler, sports fan and amateur cook. A memorial service will be held August 19 at 11AM at Rodeway Inn & Suites, Ft. Lauderdale (_www.hotelftlauderdale.net_). The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in lieu of flowers, to advance research, support patients and create hope for all those touched by pancreatic cancer - _www.pancan.org_.
