As a Staff Scientist I in Flow Cytometry you will have the opportunity
to participate in the application of Flow Cytometry in Clinical Trials. The position requires solid knowledge of multicolor Flow Cytometry, excellent communication skills, complex scientific data analysis and presentations capabilities along with good time management and project planning skills.
Responsibilities:
* Participate in assessing the feasibility of new tests development and
validation requests from clients
* Participate in new assays development and custom panels design
* Responsible for performing new assay validation on the Flow Cytometer in compliance with an established validation plan: includes instrument maintenance, set-up, calibration, sample preparation, acquisition and data analysis for high complexity (>5 color) Flow Cytometry panels.
* Present data and summarize conclusions in clear written technical
reports and effective oral presentations
* Responsible for writing and reviewing regularly Standard Operating
Procedures for newly validated assays
* Support and train others, as Subject Matter Expert, on newly developed panels for transition from development & validation phases to production
* Participate in patient sample testing activities once test is in
production; as required.
* Participate actively in improvement initiatives, as a technical
expert, for all laboratory processes related to Flow Cytometry
* May participate in clients meetings, visits, audits, as requested
Required Education/Qualification and Experience:
* B.S in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science with a
minimum of 5-7 years experience in high complexity Flow Cytometry assays development, validation and testing (>5 color panels).
* Preferred MS or PhD with 3-5 years in high complexity Flow Cytometry assays development, validation and testing (>5 color panels)
* Must qualify as Medical Technologist as per New York State/CAP/CLIA regulations
* Knowledge of laboratory statistics related to assay validation and
scientific data interpretation
* Proficient at Microsoft Word and Excel and knowledge of clinical
laboratory automation, system and middleware software related to Flow Cytometry platform operations
* Proficient at using Becton Dickinson Diva software and/or Data
Innovations EP
Evaluator is an advantage
* Knowledge of NYS/CAP/CLIA regulations is a plus
