
Augusta University Georgia Cancer Center – Flow Cytometry Shared Resource - Research Assistant
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in biomedical sciences such as Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry and a minimum of one year biological research experience preferably in immunology
- Minimum 1 year hand’s-on flow cytometry instrumentation and software experience
- Detail oriented
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage/maintain laboratory instrumentation and lab space/environment.
- Orient and instruct new users/customers in the workings of the laboratory and its equipment.
- Assist users with facility interface, instrumentation use and offline analysis computer use.
- Manage and confirm instrumentation availability and use via iLab operations system.
- Assist users with use of iLab scheduling and instrument use (Kiosk) system
- Train for/run cytometer(s) for non-biohazardous and biohazardous cell sorting
- Interface with service engineers for instrument maintenance and repair as needed.
- Assist with the laboratory inventory/purchasing/stocking of reagents and supplies.
- Manage/maintain biosafety and chemical safety guidelines and protocols to ensure compliance.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Preferred
- 3-5 years research laboratory
- 3-5 years flow cytometry experience on multiple analyzer and cell sorter instrument platforms
- Familiarity with iLab scheduling and billing operations software system
