Researcher IV (Flow Cytometry Specialist) 

 

The Comprehensive Flow Cytometry Core (CFCC) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is recruiting an experienced flow cytometrist (Researcher IV) to join an active and progressive core facility. This position will plan, coordinate, and conduct scientific research requiring independent judgment. This position will be responsible for ensuring the administrative and operational activities of the Flow Core are carried out in a cost-effective manner. The Researcher IV will be responsible for operating flow cytometry equipment (BD FACSAria, BD LSRII, BD Calibur, BD Melody, ImageStream and Attune NxT etc).  The senior resource specialist will be an active participant in the comprehensive training program of the lab, consultant to scientific investigators and mentor to junior technologists. He/she will actively participate in development of training and education program as part of cores strategic plan. Incumbent will have at least 5 years of flow cytometry experience in clinical or research settings. Flow cytometry specialist certification through ASCP (SCYM) is a plus. 

The UAB CFCC serves as the sole core for the entire University of Alabama at Birmingham research community and offers investigators access to state-of-the-art technology, operating 14 instruments in several satellite locations and will soon expand its single cell analysis platform.

 

Minimum requirements:

 

Bachelors/MS/PhD with flow cytometry experience.
