We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated research scientist to join the Infectious Disease and Vaccine Discovery group at our organization working on infectious disease vaccines and immuno-therapies. Successful candidates will become part of a creative and flexible team that investigates novel therapeutic avenues for cancer and infectious diseases using T cell and monoclonal antibody based approaches. Candidates for the position will need an excellent understanding of T cell biology and cutting-edge methodologies to interrogate specificity and effector functions. Experience in human and non-human primate T cell biology highly desirable and proven experience in flow cytometric analysis required.  We are focused on remaining at the forefront of this fast-paced, exciting field and are always looking for innovative ideas. The candidate will have experience with some of the following techniques:  

  • High skill level with flow cytometry experimental design, processing and analysis
  • Expertise in operating a variety of flow cytometry instruments ( i.e. BD Symphony, BD LSR II,  BD FACSAria™, Sony SH800)
  • Cell sorting
  • Intracellular cytokine staining 
  • ELISPOT/ELISA
  • Primary cell isolation and cell culture techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Critical to success will be the ability to design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize this information for immune-therapy development.  Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to follow established protocols, design new protocols and experiments, and show attention to detail. The candidate is expected to participate in preparation of patents on novel methodologies and manuscripts for publication.

 

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:  

 

Bachelor’s Degree in the Life Sciences with a minimum of 4 years of experience in laboratory research in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry OR

MS Degree in the Life Sciences with a minimum of 2 years of experience in laboratory research in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

 

Required Experience and Skills:  

 

Technical expertise in flow cytometry  (4+ years)

 

Excellent oral  and written communication skills

 

Primary cell isolation and cell culture techniques

 

 

 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

 

Expertise in operating a variety of flow cytometry instruments ( i.e. BD Symphony, BD LSR II, FACSAria™, Sony SH800)

 

Cell sorting

 

Intracellular cytokine staining 

 

ELISPOT/ELISA

 

Flow cytometry software experience including FACSDIVA and FlowJo
