Responsibilities:
- Oversees all laboratory testing.
- Maintains and uses the flow cytometer to generate data.
- Reviews and evaluates the validity and accuracy of test results.
- Identifies education and competency needs and conducts laboratory personnel training programs on instrumentation, technology and procedure as needed.
- Establishes the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including precision, accuracy, reference ranges and reportable ranges.
- Coordinates equipment and instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration program to ensure proper working order.
- Oversees quality control and ensures compliance with rules, regulations and accreditation requirements of regulatory agencies, including Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
- Oversees quality control, quality assurance and preventive maintenance activities for the assigned section.
- Previews and ensures technological and scientific accuracy of Quality Assurance (QA) tests and procedures.
- Recognizes and addresses Quality Assurance (QA) concerns by initiating QA reports and conferring with Medical Staff on Laboratory findings, value of certain clinical tests, test availability and turnaround.
- Manages and maintains all sectional quality control records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences or related.
- MT(ASCP) certification strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Requires a high degree of care and attention with strict adherence to defined clinical testing protocols
