Purdue Job#1250 - Postdoctoral Fellowship Purdue Cytometry Labs Posted Oct 20, 2019

Postdoctoral Fellow

Our group is seeking interested candidates for a postdoctoral fellow.  The position is available immediately and will be focused on a long-term funded project from the United States Department of Agriculture focused on detection of food borne pathogens and molecules of interest in biosecurity using a variety of techniques.

Of particular interest is continuing work using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) focused on lanthanide-antibody tags (similar to those used in CyTOF). We have currently built a custom designed LIBs instrument and we are interested in driving a hand held LIBS instrument that might be used for detection of toxins, contaminants and molecules of interest in the biosecurity domain.

The candidate might have a background in biochemistry or chemistry, or mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering and we would consider all these areas as this is a highly interdisciplinary project within an interdisciplinary group.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and will adhere to current NIH guidelines. Purdue University offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The position is available immediately and begins on a mutually agreed upon date

The position will be within the Basic Medical Sciences department and Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University on the main West Lafayette, Indiana campus.  Information about postdoctoral appointments at Purdue is found here https://www.purdue.edu/gradschool/postdoctoral-studies/future.php  and here https://www.purdue.edu/gradschool/postdoctoral-studies/current.php
