Dear all:
We have added a CYTOF to our facility and are expanding our busy immune monitoring flow core by a new team member. We are looking for a dynamic Flow Cytometry Manager based at the Biomedical Research Centre of Guy's and St Thomas Hospital/Kings College, ondon. She/he will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of one or more core lab instruments for cell sorting and analysis. The post holder will also play a key role in establishing and developing Mass Cytometry capacity on the new CYTOF, including the setup of a CYTOF-specific reagent base, development of SOPs and day-to day management and operation of the CYTOF. The successful candidate
must be able to work independently and as part of a team of clinicians, scientists and students within the Trust and KCL. Good organisation and communication skills and a good attitude to deliver excellent service are essential in this role. The current remit will include scheduling, assisted cell sorting, data acquisition and analysis, data management, instrument maintenance and quality control, ordering of supplies and providing general support for the seamless operation of the facility.
The role calls for a detail oriented and highly motivated individual with project management skills and the ability develop new protocols and a
good understanding of data analysis tools. A first degree in a relevant scientific discipline, post graduate degree MSc - in an appropriate specialism, is essential. Prior hands on experience in operating cell sorters and high end analytical flow instrumentation is essential, general lab experience, ideally within a molecular/immunology or biochemical laboratory,as well as working with cell cultures and ex vivo sample material are highly desirable. Computer competency in relevant flow cytometry software and a thorough understanding of high end multicolour flow is a must, prior experience with BD instrumentation and significant prior work experience in a flow cytometry core laboratory are highly desirable, prior experience in mass spectrometry is a plus, training on the CYTOF will be provided. This is a full time position (37.5 hrs/week which is funded until end of March 2017, Salary: Band 7: =A336,552 - =A346,374.
