
Baylor Institute for Immunology Research is focused on translational research in human immunology to quickly bring new therapies “from the bench to the bedside.” We are recruiting for the following position:
Research Associate III – Manager of Flow Cytometry Shared Resource Laboratory
Our Flow Cytometry Shared Resource Laboratory employs a Director and six technicians and provides flow cytometry services to a number of successful researchers. Services include operator-assisted sorts, user training and an active involvement in the planning and execution of clinical trials. We perform flow cytometric, immuno-monitoring in patients with autoimmune/inflammatory diseases, cancer, HIV and other infectious diseases as part of several ongoing clinical trials.
Equipment includes: two BD ARIA II high speed-sorters, one BD LSR II, one BD LSR Fortessa and three BD FACS Canto II units.
Essential functions: Supporting daily operations of a Shared Resource Flow Cytometry Laboratory, which includes both a sorting and a strong analytical cytometry component.
Qualifications: Experience with all aspects of flow cytometric cell analysis, cell sorting and experimental design. Proficiency in use and maintenance of a BD FACS Aria II, LSRII/Fortessa, Canto and relevant software such as FlowJo and FACSDiva. Experience in troubleshooting flow equipment and procedures. Interest in polychromatic flow cytometry, advanced flow (and other) data analysis, data management. Strong communication and problem solving skills. Ability to work as part of a team within a multidisciplinary environment. MS or higher degree in a relevant scientific discipline. Experience in supervising flow core personnel. Five years of relevant experience.
