Job Summary:

Under the supervision  of the Laboratory  Manager/Director   has the responsibility   for technical  operations  of the Flow Cytometry  Laboratory  including  supervisory  direction  of technologists,   instrument  use, repair  and maintenance,   and the performance   of flow cytometry  testing.  Facilitates  communication   to ensure  continuous  reporting  of accurate results.  Participates  in Clinical  Pathology  resident  training  and in the teaching  and continuing  education  ofthe  technologists,   students  and clinical  pathology  residents  as it relates to Flow Cytometry.  In conjunction  with the Director,  develops  new tests and evaluates  new equipment  as needed  in this area. Performs  QC and maintains accurate/current   QC documentation. Contributes  to performance   reviews.

 

Monitors  ordering  of inventory  supplies,  and is knowledgeable   concerning  all budgetary issues;  encourages  the  "team" concept  among  staff; performs,  documents  and maintains quality  control records  in flow cytometry.  Contributes  to the performance   review  process. Responsible  for the supervising  of the flow cytometry  laboratory:  Performs  both routine and specialized  testing.  Troubleshoots   equipment;  reviews  and corrects  SOP; Assists  in development  of new methods  and procedures;  Ensures  lab is in compliance  with all CAP, JCAHO,  and lor CLlA  regulations.   Teaches  procedures  to technologists   and other staff.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Bachelor  of Science Degree  in Medical  Technology  or equivalent  with an MT (ASCP) certification. Continuing  education  in a related  discipline  desirable.   MT certification; minimum  of 5 years experience  in a clinical  lab with at least 3 years experience  in Flow Cytometry.  Excellent  knowledge  of Flow Cytometry.  Excellent  interpersonal   skills in relating  to laboratory  staff, hospital  staff and customers.      Excellent  communication  and prioritization -skills.  Excellent computer skills.
