Applied Technology at Incyte has been established to bridge the research findings at the Discovery and Development levels by utilizing novel techniques to support our clinical and investigative programs. In collaboration with academic, clinical and industry scientists, this group develops knowledge around each of our existing programs to enable  evaluation of target modulation, biological changes that correlate with target modulation, as well as biomarkers or patient characteristics that could be utilized to predict response to therapy. The results are used to enrich and refine the Development program strategy as well as inform and guide future Discovery efforts.

Summary (Primary function)

 

The Research Scientist/Sr Research Scientist, Applied Technology Group will develop and implement specialized flow cytometry and other  cellular and biochemical assays to support specific portfolio related hypotheses and biomarker development. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to work in a collaborative laboratory environment to discover and develop robust biomarkers/ targets for use in human clinical studies.

 

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

Job Responsibilities

•      Design, execute, and interpret cell-based in vitro experiments for small and large molecule           discovery

•      Culture of cell lines and isolation and culture of human PBMCs

•      Perform multicolor flow cytometry experiments for immune cell phenotyping and functional assessment

•      Analyze data, prepare reports and presentations for internal and external meetings

•      Work collaboratively across multiple functional groups within drug discovery to achieve key goals

·       Miniaturize and adapt cell-based assays to automated screening systems

·       Keep current with emerging trends in scientific discipline.

  • Understands the role of other functional areas in the laboratory and partners with them to maximize best practices and laboratory efficiencies.

·       Follow company safety practices, including training, lab safety, and record keeping as appropriate

Qualifications

•      Bachelor or Master’s degree in immunology, immuno-oncology or a related field

•      Proficient at multi-flow cytometry and FACS data analysis utilizing FACS Suite, FlowJo, Cell Engine or other flow cytometry software and scientific computer programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, and Spotfire.

•      Expertise in the following techniques magnetic cell isolation, cell culture, immune cell phenotyping, ELISA, MSD, MLR, and cytotoxicity assays

•      Familiarity with liquid handling instrumentation is a plus

 

·       Effective communication and presentation skills and willingness to collaborate with different functional groups is essential

·       Develop, optimize, and qualify pharmacodynamic and target engagement biomarker assays.

  • Possess a high level of critical thinking, high energy, independence, a strong desire to learn new techniques, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic research organization
