PUCL Job#1290 - Senior Flow Cytometry Specialist: UAB (posted Dec 16, 2020)

The Comprehensive Flow Cytometry Core (CFCC) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is recruiting an experienced flow cytometrist (Researcher V) to join an active and progressive core facility. This position will plan, coordinate, and conduct scientific research requiring independent judgment. This position will be responsible for ensuring the administrative and operational activities of the Flow Core are carried out in a cost-effective manner. Researcher V will be responsible for operating and maintaining flow cytometry equipment (BD FACSAria, BD FACS Symphony, BD LSRII, BD Calibur, BD Melody, ImageStream, and Attune NxT, etc.).  

 

The senior resource technologist will be an active participant in the comprehensive training program of the lab, consultant to scientific investigators, and mentor to junior technologists. He/she will actively participate in the development of training and education programs as part of the cores strategic plan. The applicant must have flow cytometry experience in clinical or research settings. Flow cytometry specialist certification through ASCP (SCYM) is a plus.  The UAB CFCC serves as the sole core for the entire University of Alabama at Birmingham research community and offers investigators access to the state-of-the-art technology, operating 14 instruments in several satellite locations and with a single-cell analysis platform.  

 

Requirements: 

 

Doctorate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.
