Bangs Laboratories in Fishers, Indiana is a manufacturer of uniform polymer, silica, and magnetic microsphere products for diagnostic, research, and flow cytometry applications. Our three lines of superparamagnetic microparticles allow us to uniquely address a wide range of applications in the life sciences, including cell separations, immunoassays, and suspension arrays. Our collection of microsphere standards includes Quantum™ kits with QuickCal® for quantitative fluorescence analyses, ViaCheck™ standards for viability analyzers, NIST-traceable size standards for particle sizers, and count standards for particle and cell counters.

 

We have a unique opportunity for an individual, with both chemical conjugation skill and flow cytometry expertise, to handle manufacturing of our line of flow cytometry products. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience performing chemical conjugations, running samples, performing analysis, and trouble shooting and maintaining flow cytometers. Our goal is to know that the beads we’ve manufactured meet the precise specifications to qualify as standards. This person needs to be the expert on flow cytometry equipment and its use!

 

Responsibilities include:

·       Manufacture flow cytometry standards products, including fluorophore / protein conjugations, as well as stability testing

·       Operation of flow cytometers; including daily startup & shutdown, running samples, weekly cleaning, and monthly maintenance

·       Perform troubleshooting of instrumentation and reagents

·       Perform cytometric and statistical analysis of product data

·       Perform quantitative fluorescence assignments

·       Provide insight into development of new assays and products

·       Assist with technical support to customers based on various inquiries

 

Skills and Qualifications:

·       B.S. in chemical / physical / biological sciences, with understanding of life science applications of flow cytometry

·       Experience with bench top chemistry principles and chemical conjugations

·       2 years flow cytometry experience (must be post graduate experience)

·       Experience with sample handling, processing, staining, and analysis via flow

·       Demonstrated ability to think critically and cover a broad range of responsibilities

·       Ability to visualize issues, determine root causes, and develop solutions in customer support situations

·       Desire to expand knowledge past traditional flow cytometric methods

·       Must be self-motivated and highly responsible, with the ability to execute technical tasks and projects with minimal supervision and work multiple projects simultaneously

·       Strong written and verbal communications skills
