BD is looking for an in house or field based Scientist responsible for managing the scientific solutions for BD High Parameter FACSymphony analyzer and sorter customers. The ideal candidate will specialize in understanding and support the Research environment including Academic, Clinical, BioTech and BioPharma markets. This exciting role will function as a subject matter expert for High parameter flow cytometry solutions that will include formalizing training activities, be an expert in multi-color panel design, provide new technology lectures, and keep the community current on BD’s evolving HP solution. This flow cytometry leader will provide voice of the customer expertise to marketing, business development and product design teams. In addition, they will organize as well as oversee the field service installations of Symphony and S6 sorter systems including upgrades and assuring completion of all tasks to the highest customer experience standards.

 

The Scientific Solutions Manager serves as an expert in high parameter flow cytometry systems including configurations, performance, setup as well as an expert in multicolor flow cytometry applications.  They have a strong working knowledge of all BDB Cell Analysis systems (Instruments, software, reagents) and understands major competitor platforms. Flexibility and agility requires the individual to stay scientifically up-to-date and engaged in the field as well as advances internally.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Responsible for managing the scientific needs of the HP global support teams as they support their local customers

·       Is highly engaged in pre-sales scientific conversations to address customer or regional needs and questions

·       Supports the generation of HP data and other forms of collateral, assuring subject matter is scientifically meaningful

·       Works closely with marketing assuring the Symphony and S6 Users Group is active and information is informative and relevant to the group  

·       Establish programs to ensure ex-US Regional Technical Application Specialists and Application groups are up to speed to support the business deliverables of the High Parameter Solutions team.

·       Works closely with our FlowJo partners to ensure our computational and bioinformatics tools fulfill the needs of our HP customers and strengthen the HP offering commercially

·       Provides voice of the customer information for Marketing, Product Development, Business Development and other departments

·       Work in a matrix environment to develop technical presentations, applications notes and other communication materials

·       Technical resource for internal and external (ex-US) associates

·       Ensures technical knowledge transfer between all customer facing teams in ex-US global regions

·       Provides training to ex-US global regional teams

·       Establish a “Train the Trainer” training program for the HP applications

·       Provides technical support at tradeshows, user’s meetings, workshops, and other special Cell Analysis venues as appropriate

·       Maintains and interfaces continually with the VP of Biological Sciences/Market Development, SORP technical teams and Marketing. 

·       Assessment will be measured both on an individual and team success metrics

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

·       A minimum of a BS in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Medical Technology, Engineering or a science related to BD Biosciences products, plus 8-10 years of flow cytometry experience.

·       A PhD in a biological science is preferred.

·       Should have a strong working knowledge of all BD Biosciences applications, instruments, and reagents and software.

·       Must be an expert in multicolor flow applications, have a strong working knowledge of all BDB Cell Analysis systems (Instruments, software, reagents) and understand major competitors’ platforms; must stay scientifically relevant and engaged in fast moving fields in which our business participates and deeply understand BDB customer needs 

·       Must be able to positively and effectively interact in a multi-layered and complex work environment, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment.

·       Must be able to communicate coherently and effectively. Strong influence without authority skills

·       Must be able to speak scientifically, while understanding the messaging is a business driver.

·       Must be able to provide lectures and drive roundtable discussions with KOLs.

·       Must possess and demonstrate the ability to apply creative problem solving skills to novel and sometimes complex flow cytometry applications.

·       Must possess the ability to think strategically and design technical solutions for complex customer needs

·       Must exhibit effective oral and written communications skills.

·       Must be self-motivated and exhibit exceptional discipline and discretion.

·       Must be flexible and comfortable with team success and team struggles

·       Must be able to effectively organize and present information in a variety of formats

·       Should possess a working knowledge of product development regulatory and certification requirements

·       Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards

·       Travel is estimated to be at least 60%.
