BD Biosciences is seeking a flow cytometrist who is excited to apply their application experience to the development and testing of new cell analysis systems. A PhD is desired but not required. No experience with validation testing needed. Apply at jobs.bd.com

 

Play a critical role by representing the customer experience on cross-functional development teams. Interface with customers to gather critical data that will guide validation testing of products. Apply systems thinking and creative problem solving to improve products or processes with broad scope across BDB. Assist with usability testing to ensure our products are easy to use and meet user needs. This role will be working on research-use-only and in-vitro diagnostic flow cytometer analyzers, sorters, and cell preppers. Primary duties include:

 

·         Lead the definition, design, and execution of validation activities throughout product development

·         Represent the department on highly complex or ambiguous programs by elevating customers need and product quality

·         Define own work priorities with minimal guidance while exercising independent judgment

·         Conduct representative sample prep and flow cytometry experiments to test products

·         Identify gaps in R&D user knowledge and develop process or program initiatives to address those gaps

·         Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer workflows, scientific advancements in flow cytometry, and the competitive landscape

·         Interface between customers and developers/testers by translating customer needs into product requirements and testing workflows

·         Conduct usability testing with users to evaluate areas for product improvement

·         Mentor and support more junior members in understanding user workflows and validation

·         Provide expert user knowledge across BDB and interface with senior leaders in the organization

·         Escalate top issues by providing clear, well-structured, high-level updates

·         Willing to travel up to 10%

Minimum Qualifications:

·         B.S. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related discipline

·         8 years’ experience in academic research, clinical reference laboratories, pharma industry, contract research organizations, or other relevant industry

·         Extensive hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting flow cytometers

·         Experience with sample prep and experiment design for multi-parameter flow cytometry applications

·         Experience training bench-level personnel and leading highly complex large projects

·         Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills

 

Desired Qualifications: 

·         MS or PhD degree in Immunology, Cell Biology or in a related discipline

·         Medical technologist experience in clinical reference labs

·         Proven ability to identify and address process improvements within job function

·         Experience as a flow cytometry core lab operator is highly desired

·         Experience in human factors or usability engineering principles or studies

·         Experience with product development or medical device regulatory standards
