Cell Sorter Operator position: Sr. Research Assistant
The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, Manhassett, New York

 

The Feinstein Institute is seeking an energetic individual to join a fast paced, busy core facility as its cell sorter operator. We have two BD FACS Aria cell sorters  as well as two other BD analyzers and an Amnis Imagestream MK II image analysis cytometer.

Responsible for the routine care, maintenance, and operation of  two BD FACS Aria cell sorters,  as well as the BD LSR Fortessa,  the BD LSR II, and the Amnis Imagestream MK II Cell Imaging Analyzer. (training will be provided on the Amnis as needed)

 

keeps track of  consumables stock and ordering supplies when necessary.

 

Ensures facility users are utilizing the facility in such a way that promotes equal
access  by all facility users to all instrumentation.

 

Aids in cost recovery by maintaining a high degree of vigilance over the facility’s calendar reservation system.

 

Intermediate to high degree of competency with FlowJo, BD FACS Diva, as well as MS Excel, Word, and Power Point.

 

Comfortable with general computing tasks such as data transfers, backups, and CPU maintenance as necessary to maintain Windows OS based PC’s.

 

Must be flexible to work a late schedule (to 7:00 PM - days TBD)

 

Must be able to independently setup, and analyze multicolor immunofluorescence experiments with a wide range of tissue. 

 

At least 5 years experience in a flow cytometry core facility setting is preferred, B.S. in Biological Sciences required minimum education.

 

At least 2 years experience independently operating cell sorters; BD FACS Aria systems  preferred.
