JUNIOR/ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE SPECIALIST – FLOW CYTOMETRY – CANCER RESEARCH LABORATORY

 

The UC Berkeley Cancer Research Laboratory (CRL) is seeking to hire a specialist to serve in the Flow Cytometry Facility unit, to begin as soon as possible. This position will use flow cytometry to perform research with other campus biomedical scientists in project design, analysis and, technical assistance. The successful candidate will also help in managing the flow cytometry facility. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (AT TIME OF APPLICATION):

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree, in Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, or a related field.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (BY START DATE):
The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience working in a basic research-oriented flow cytometry facility; and will have expertise in all aspects of flow cytometry and must be able to work with faculty and researchers in developing flow cytometry applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (BY START DATE):
The successful candidate will be familiar with at least some of the instruments currently in the facility, including the Becton-Dickinson LSRII, LSR Fortessa, Cytopeia INFLUX sorter, FACS Aria Fusion; In addition, the Specialist must demonstrate a great ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with a diverse population of users.

APPOINTMENT
This position reports to Dr. Russell Vance. The initial appointment will be full-time at 100% time for up to one (1) year with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding. The approximate start date of this position will be June 2018.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
$38,112 – $65,904 at 100% time, depending on qualifications. This position provides full benefits. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on UC Berkeley specialist seriessalary scale.
