The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), one of the world's largest independent non-profit research facilities, stands at the forefront of basic biomedical science, a vital segment of medical research that seeks to comprehend the most fundamental processes of life.

The Scripps Research Institute is currently seeking a Flow Cytometry Operator for its Florida facility. The level of the position will be determined based upon the selected candidate’s qualifications.

The selected candidate handles the operation and maintenance of high speed cell sorters and cell analyzers in an institutional core facility, including quality control, end-user training, and consulting on experimental design and interpretation.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Perform daily calibration, operation, maintenance and basic repair of high-speed cell sorters, analyzers, and other facility equipment including a blood cell differential analyzer and a laser microdissection microscope.
• Carry out and/or assist with data analysis using various software packages, including DiVa, FlowJo, and others.
• Provide training and assistance to facility users in experimental design, instrument operation, and software analysis.
• Identify and diagnose problems, perform trouble-shooting and limited instrument repair, and coordinate with external technical support for advice or repairs.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Biology, Life Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience in flow cytometry experience desirable, but on-the-job training may be provided to otherwise qualified applicants.
• Proficient PC and Mac skills and the ability to learn new technology.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
