POSITION SUMMARY:

The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is currently seeking a Flow Cytometry Operator II for the Immunology & Microbiology Department for its Florida location. The Flow Cytometry Operator II reports to the Director of Flow Cytometry and performs the operation and maintenance of high speed cell sorters and cell analyzers in an institutional core facility, including quality control, end-user training, and consulting on experimental design and interpretation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Perform daily calibration, operation, maintenance and basic repair of high-speed cell sorters, analyzers, and other facility equipment including a blood cell differential analyzer and a laser microdissection microscope.
• Carry out and/or assist with data analysis using various software packages, including DiVa, FlowJo, and others.
• Provide training and assistance to facility users in experimental design, instrument operation, and software analysis.
• Identify and diagnose problems, perform trouble-shooting and limited instrument repair, and interface with external technical support or repair personnel.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Biology or similar field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Minimum 3 years flow cytometry experience, including cell sorting.
• Proficient with both PC and MAC environment and the ability to learn new technology quickly.
• Ability to work well with others and prioritize responsibilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
