Senior Flow Cytometry Manager

The UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine is currently seeking a Senior Flow Cytometry Manager to oversee flow cytometry operations, manage flow cytometry research staff, and provide scientific oversight and guidance for cell sorting and antibody characterization activities as part of the Therapeutic Antibody Laboratory (TAL) initiative.

The qualified candidate will be responsible in conjunction with the TAL Platform Manager for execution of therapeutic antibody discovery and development programs.  This person will bring significant industry experience regarding the development and characterization of therapeutic antibodies and will supervise staff to implement in vitro, ex vivo and binding assays.  The candidate will collaborate with scientists within the organization to actively improve and drive therapeutic antibody discovery efforts by integrating flow cytometry, molecular biology and high-throughput screening technologies. The candidate will coordinate these activities and experiments with partner laboratories at UCLA and other UC campuses, as well as with external partners.  Supporting activities include maintaining effective communication and coordination with partner UC laboratories and external entities, and anticipating future TAL project and facility’s needs.  The candidate may also participate in high-level presentations and partnering activities, potentially to include fundraising.  

 

Qualifications

- BS in immunology, biology or similar field strongly preferred with minimum 20 years industry experience

- MS or PhD in immunology, biology or similar field preferred

- Strong proven background in flow cytometry and project management

- Proven expertise in the isolation and characterization of single antigen binding B cells from various

  sources.

- Experience in managing interactions of corporate vendors and CRO’s to drive results in timely manner

- Experience in contributing to technical reports, IND, IP, scientific journals

- Experience in various computational programming skills is a plus

- Strong organizational and project management skills

- Strong oral and written communication skills

-Conduct independent research projects, organize research data and present to lab members, finalizing research outcomes by composing and publishing research articles. 

-Expertise in Flow Cytometry, 20 plus years of industry experience

- Expertise in immunoglobulin alignment and sequence analysis packages

- Experience in molecular biology lab automation and process integration

- Expertise in single cell cloning and sequencing

- Experience in microfluidics is preferred

- Experience in proteomics is preferred

- Working experience in R, Perl, and other statistical packages is preferred
