Scientist – Cytof

Biogen is seeking a highly motivated experienced individual to assist with day-to-day operation of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility. The Flow Cytometry Core is a state of the art facility that supports the research and development portfolio in the areas of neurology, immunology, neuroimmunology, fibrosis, cell and gene therapy. Projects support ranges from exploratory and clinical research to production. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and establishment of standard operating procedure for a CyTOF analytical mass spectrometer. Duties include independently conducting cell sorts and analyses, as well as assisting facility users with experimental design and data analysis. The incumbent is expected to maintain best knowledge of current practices in flow cytometry, compliance with safety regulations, perform instrument maintenance and repairs or initiate repairs through vendors. Assistance with other flow cytometry modalities in the laboratory may be needed at times.

 

Qualifications

·         B.S. and 5 years of experience preferably in industry.

·         Knowledge of flow cytometry instrumentation, analysis and cell sorting.

·         Basic knowledge of Biology, Immunology, Stem Cell Biology, Phyisiology, Physics.

·         The candidate must be comfortable using both PC and Apple/Macintosh computers.

·         Very good knowledge of bioinformatics is also desirable.

·         The candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. fluid containers, work in an environment with natural light during first shift hours.

 

Education

·         B.S. in Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
