Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has an exciting opportunity for a Flow Cytometry Specialist in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

 

The Flow Cytometry Specialist is responsible all flow cytometry analysis, microscopic analysis of samples, reagent and sample processing, general maintenance, all required records and training of required personnel.  

 

Some of the essential functions of this role include the following:

 

  • Acts as a general supervisor and performs routine processing of bone marrow, peripheral blood, tissue and body fluid cells for flow cytometric acquisition and analysis. Prepares and aliquots solutions and reagents for laboratory procedures as directed in the procedure manual. Prepares and analyzes subsequent specimens for cell changes and reports findings to pathologist.
  • Performs microscopic analysis of stained smears.   Classifies cells and records classification.  Presents slides with unusual structures to pathologists for further examination.
  • Monitors problem cases to ensure a timely resolution.  Provides guidance to flow cytometry personnel in identifying, analyzing and solving problems concerning individual cases, tests performed and equipment malfunctions.  May review cases for quality assurance purposes.
  • Performs troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of flow Cytometry analyzer, quality control analysis and interpretation.
  • Monitors inventory and other duties as assigned within the flow cytometry laboratory. Performs various housekeeping and / or maintenance tasks to keep laboratory areas clean.
  • Records required information in laboratory log books, specimen accession sheets, work flow drafts, etc., to ensure quality assurance of specimens. 

             

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

 

  • Bachelors in Medical Technology degree required. 
  • Current state license is required.
  • ASCP or NCA certification is required.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in analysis with a color flow cytometry analyzer, with a emphasis in lymphocyte subset exposure.
  • Must have work experience in a general clinical laboratory environment, with an emphasis in general hematology.
