Assistant Manager of the Flow Core: UAB

Description:

The Comprehensive Flow Cytometry Core (CFCC) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a flow cytometry specialist to join an active and progressive core facility.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1.     Operate flow cytometry equipment (BD FACSAria, BD LSRII, BD Calibur, Image stream and Attune NxT etc).

2.     Assist and train researchers using flow cytometry core facility in developing multi-color flow cytometry panels, analysis, and setting flow cytometry experiments.

3.     Maintenance of equipment, daily calibration and record keeping of maintenance logs.

4.     Ordering lab equipment and reagents.

5.     Ensure the lab policies and BSL2 guidelines are being followed.

CFCC operates at several locations on campus, the successful candidate is expected to rotate as required.

Qualification:

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the physical or biological sciences with two years of relevant research or clinical experience or Master’s. Certification via ICCE is a plus.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are desired.
