Research Engineer Flow Cytometry

2 year fixed-term contract, Full-time

 

Position Summary:

• Candidate will work as a research engineer in the Core Facility Flow Cytometry

• Resolves and prevents technical problems with the flow cytometers and related equipment in consultation with the current facility manager

• Supports the users to perform optimal flow cytometric experiments for their specific projects

• Eventually the candidate should become independent in maintaining the infrastructure and functioning of the facility

 

Main activities:

• Maintaining the equipment inside the facility (BD Fortessa SORP, Canto, Influx, Aria SORP) and performing the necessary quality controls

• Training users to operate the different cytometers

• Evaluate and troubleshoot problems

• Assist in experimental design / protocol development, data acquisition

• Assist with the analysis and presentation of the data using the different available softwares (Diva, FlowJo, ModFit, Infinicyt, FCAP, Kaluza)

• Maintain the antibody database, antibody stock and prepare the necessary order forms

• Maintain schedule in order to run the facility at maximum efficiency

• Keeping updated with the latest relevant developments in the field of flow cytometry and CyTOF2

 

Diploma, Work experience & Specific competences:

• Engineer Diploma or higher in Biotechnology, Biology, Biomedical sciences, etc.

• Practical experience of several years in two or more of the following areas: flow cytometry, fluorescent antibodies, bio-medical research in general

• Self driven motivation, service oriented, sense of initiative, ability to work independently and meet responsibilities without continuous supervision

• Good verbal communication skills and being able to interact successfully with a broad range of individuals

• Languages: fluent in English, knowledge of another major language of the European Union is an asset
