
The Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, has a second shift position available for an experienced flow cytometry technician to join an existing team that provides service to the hospital and local oncology facilities. This position would primarily perform clinical immunophenotyping of blood and bone marrow specimens to aid in the diagnosis of leukemia and lymphoma. Duties include specimen prep, antibody staining, acquisition and analysis of 7+ color flow data, instrument QC and maintenance on BD flow cytometers, and interaction with clinicians. Technicians eventually will also have some opportunity to participate in design and validation of new tests (including high resolution PNH, leukemia MRD), in conjunction with the lab supervisor and pathologist.
Qualified applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or other related health sciences fields. The successful candidate will be motivated to learn and be willing to study independently to become comfortable with clinical testing. A background in hematology would be helpful, but is not required, provided that the candidate has significant flow cytometry experience. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
