Assistant Professor in Immunology
A scientist using multidisciplinary approaches to study pathogens and pathogen-host interactions is sought for a tenure-track position in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. Faculty in the department are nationally and internationally recognized leaders in research on pathogens that cause significant disease in animals and humans, including those with potential for transmission at the human- animal interface. Additionally, close partnerships with scientists in the USDA-Agricultural Research Service unit housed within the department and scientists in the Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health offer numerous opportunities for collaborative research programs.
We seek an individual using state-of-the-art technologies to study pathogens that pose a significant health risk to animals and humans. The applicant’s research should focus on immunology of infectious disease. Strengths of the department include research in food-, water-, and vector-borne diseases. The position is 75% research/graduate education and 25% teaching, and includes a competitive institutional salary and generous start-up package. The primary teaching responsibility is the Veterinary Immunology course in the professional veterinary medicine curriculum.
A PhD degree in biomedical science or related field is required. Candidates that also hold a DVM (or equivalent) degree are highly desirable. Productive postdoctoral research experience and evidence of the potential to establish an independent competitive research program are also required. Review of applications will begin March 1, 2017.
