Weill Cornell Medical College seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual: Reporting to the Technical Director, the Cell Sorter Technology Specialist  expertly operates a high-speed cell sorter as local manager of a site within a multi-site flow cytometry core facility.  The Cell Sorter Technology Specialist performs complex cell sorting experiments with the highest degree of quality and provides good customer service to core facility customers.

 

Responsible for conducting highly complex cell sorting for the core facility and providing consultative services to PI's to ensure optimal results.

Assists core users with cell sorting experiments including technical aspects of instrument use, optimal experiment design, and data analysis.

 

Acts as local manager of cell sorter site in multi-site flow cytometry core facility.

Peforms daily instrument operation (cell sorter), maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Responsible for maintaining user schedule for local site and coordinating with Technical Director and other sites to ensure maximum availablity of cell sorting.

Ensures data archiving for local site in accordance with core requirements.

Maintains supply inventory necessary for uninterrupted site operation.

Assists core with user training and certification.

 
 

Minimum Requirements

BA or BS required with a background in sciences. MS a plus.

At least four years of related experience operating a cell sorter, in core environment preferred.  

Extensive technical expertise in instrument quality control and routine maintenance, troubleshooting and advising on cell sorting strategies. Particular experience with Aria series instruments is preferred, but not required.

Must have experience with and be able to maintain a billing system and stock supply.

Experience educating research personnel in proper usage of flow cytometers and sorters a plus.

Technical knowledge of aerosol containment, infection control procedures and regulations associated with cell sorting is preferred.

BA or BS required with a background in sciences. MS a plus.
