Staff Scientist - Analytical Cytometry Core

The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented Staff Scientist holding a doctoral degree to perform several functions for the Analytical Cytometry Core facility. The primary roles of this Staff Scientist will include daily operation of the various cytometers, both analytical and cell sorters. These efforts will include not only operating the instrument but also calibration, data analysis, data management/backup and routine maintenance/trouble shooting. In addition, this Staff Scientist will assist the manager with training of new users to self-operate the cytometers, assistance with experimental design and data interpretation, software training, assist with various administrative tasks, such as usage confirmation.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • Candidates with a Ph.D. degree and research experience using flow cytometry methods are encouraged to apply. 
  • Other important skills include knowledge of immunology and cancer biology, and experience with flow cytometry analysis software.
  • Experience in computational biology to examine large data sets is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing high-quality flow cytometry services for users of the core facility, are essential.
