
The College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University is seeking applicants for a Research Associate position to manage and enhance the growth of a multi-user core flow cytometry/ immunology laboratory. This full-time unclassified position provides University benefits and allows salary support reflecting qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will operate and maintain flow cytometers, a cell sorter, develop and use multiplex bead technology and provide backup assistance to immunology diagnostic testing when needed. In addition, the Associate will lead facilitation of the expansion of a satellite facility into BSL-3 and develop appropriate SOPs for implementing instrumentation and client applications as needed.
The successful applicant will develop marketing materials, including provision of workshops and lecture materials to promote the facility and update website and develop online resources for users. Experience with flow cytometry, luminex bead multiplex technology, and PCR is required. Master Science degree in immunology or microbiology is required. Preference will be given to those that are adaptable to learn new technologies, and are comfortable teaching clients and graduate students about flow cytometry and immunological assays. Successful candidates must be highly motivated and independent with adaptability and good communications skills to provide service for a diverse client base of graduate students, faculty and investigators from the K-State campus and other regional research institutions.
