The Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) is a research institute devoted to biological and biomedical research and to graduate training. Our main assets are excellence, originality, communication and cooperation. Those are the basis for facilities and independent research groups to work in an environment which encourages interactions and exploits synergies with minimal hierarchical structure. The scientific programme of the IGC is multidisciplinary, including Cell and Developmental Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Immunology, Host-Pathogen Interactions, Disease Genetics, Plant Biology, Neurosciences, Theoretical and Computational Biology.

We are currently seeking for a Head for our Flow Cytometry Shared Resource Lab. The candidate should have the following profile:

. Minimum 3 years of experience on providing services in the context of a flow cytometry core facility

. Have developed or had been deeply involved in research projects using flow cytometry extensively

. Ability to troubleshoot both analysers and cell sorters (including non BD machines)

. Strong technical skills

. Willingness to get involved in ongoing research projects

. Ability to organize and maintain detailed documentation

. Involved on international networking and ability to represent the Institute concerning issues in flow cytometry

. High level of written and spoken English

. Strong communication skills, positive attitude and capable to work in a team

. Highly motivated, ethic, creative, dedicated, eager to learn, and devoted to project goals

The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment and to develop her/his skills. The IGC has an excellent track record of launching highly qualified technicians and service heads, by providing the right environment to learn and develop international level careers. The selected candidate will have the freedom to apply to technical research grants and scientific grants together with research groups. As such, PhD holders are preferred.

Salary will be adjusted to the level of experience of the candidate.
