Flow Cytometry, Regional Account Manager

 

ACEA Biosciences, Inc. (ACEA) is a private biotechnology company that has pioneered the development and commercialization of a new high-performance flow cytometer called the NovoCyteTM, along with a number of other supporting products. The NovoCyte™ is truly a breakthrough in design, performance, and value.  Due to the large market demand for the product, we are rapidly expanding our sales team.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Flow Cytometry, Regional Account Manager (RAM) will be responsible for both the capital equipment and consumable sales for the NovoCyte™.  This role requires a strong focus on the delivery of customer support and satisfaction, coupled with a responsibility for profit and revenue growth. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of meeting, or exceeding, sales revenue targets in capital equipment.  The successful candidate must be self-driven, technically strong and, ideally, will have experience and a keen understanding of the flow cytometry market.  Working in concert with the Field Applications Team, the position requires the ability to perform product demonstrations, customer seminars, and workshops to customers in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic research markets.  Significant overnight travel is required.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing specific account and territory strategies, which ultimately serve to promote the sale of the NovoCyte™ flow cytometry products and services within the assigned territory.
• Generate sales calls, schedule visits to current and prospective clients/customers, and effectively manage all stages of sales cycle.
• Apply working knowledge of Professional, Consultative, and Strategic Selling skills to maintain existing business, develop incremental business in existing accounts, and conduct cold calls to develop new accounts.
• Team player, who works enthusiastically and effectively with marketing, field applications, and service to support and drive an overall positive customer experience.
• Provide feedback and serve as a channel of information to the internal marketing and support teams on customers, markets and competition. Receptive to guidance on markets, prices, products, deliveries, and competition from the business unit and sales management.
• Act as company consultant for problems, and provide initial support to solving those problems related to the flow cytometry market.
• Qualify sales leads, answer inquiries and maintain accurate records of activities using approved CRM software.
• Attend sales meetings, maintain an outside sales office, and an up-to-date database of clients/customers for opportunity pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM purposes. Knowledge of Salesforce.com is a plus.
• Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly forecasts and reports.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES: 

1. Bachelor degree in Life Sciences, Health Science or equivalent degree in science discipline.
2. Minimum of 2 to 4 years technical sales experience selling scientific instruments (capital equipment) and consumables in Academics, CRO’s, Pharma, or Biotech markets.
3. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with management, sales team and customers.
4. Knowledge of key accounts with flow cytometry cores a plus. The RAM will be recognized as a technical leader within the sales force that drives strategic objectives and adoption of new products.
5. Strong organizational skills and familiarity with Salesforce.com strongly desired.
