Job title: Melbourne Cytometry Platform Manager

Cytometry is key research infrastructure capability with essential contributions to both biomedical and material sciences. The University has several nodes with critical mass of Cytometry instrumentation, distributed across a number of its divisions. The Melbourne Cytometry Platform represents the virtual consolidations of these nodes under one platform, and singular governance and leadership from the Melbourne Cytometry Steering Committee (MCSC).

 

The Platform Manager will play an integral role in realising the Platform's vision, which is to be the leader in a coordinated sharing of cytometry infrastructure across the Parkville Precinct, and be first to acquire the latest cutting-edge cytometry technology in support of the research community. The position will report to the Head of the Melbourne Dental School (or delegate) and to the Chair of the Committee under a matrix structure, and will take broad direction from the MCSC on matters relating to the operations of the Melbourne Cytometry Platform. The position will be physically located the Melbourne Dental School, but the position is funded from across a number of Departments and Schools in the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences. The incumbent will be responsible for providing high-level cytometry expertise to researchers; educating end-users through formalised teaching programs; managing the day-to-day operations; conducting strategic planning; and documented reporting to stakeholders. In addition, the incumbent will initiate and manage a number of key projects to enhance quality, information management and promotion of the Platform.

 

Job Classification: Level B Academic

Employment Type: Full-time, fixed term for 3 years

Salary: $89,955 - $106,817 p.a. AUD plus up to 17% superannuation
