Minimum requirements:

Master’s degree in Biology or Computer Science

10 years research experience in an academic laboratory

8 year autonomous operation of a BD FACSAria cell sorter

Extensive familiarity with common and advanced flow cytometry applications

Extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement technical training programs

Fluent or native speaker ability to deliver instruction in English

Familiarity with BSL2 containment guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree in cell biology or Computer Science

15 years research experience in an academic laboratory

12 years autonomous operation of a BD FACSAria cell sorter or BD Influx cell sorter

Strong record of publishing advanced flow cytometry applications

Experience with computer programming in multiple languages

Familiarity with implementation of BSL3 containment guidelines

Description:

The incumbent shall be responsible with implementation of the Institutional training program in flow cytometry as administered through the flow cytometry CORE. This includes modification or creation of training content, implementation of a schedule of training sessions, delivery of training materials, and administrative tasks associated with training records. Training plans shall include CORE policy introduction, hands-on training for equipment operation, theoretical topics in flow cytometry, advanced topics in flow cytometry, and training in data analysis concepts. As such, the Scientist shall be a mentor to junior CORE staff and any institutional user.

In addition, the Scientist will be expected to provide assisted operation of any CORE equipment in support of institutional research projects of varying scope and discipline. The Scientist is expected to assist institutional researchers in experimental design, data analysis, and instrument troubleshooting. The Scientist will be charged with recognizing when issues with CORE operations arise and communicating those issues to CORE management in a timely manner. Other duties may be assigned.
