
Flow Cytometry Research Associate II

Minimum requirements
Bachelor degree in Biology or closely related field
2 years research experience in an academic laboratory
1 year autonomous operation of a BD FACSAria cell sorter or BD Influx cell sorter
Familiarity with common laboratory techniques including cell culture, flow cytometry, and PCR
Familiarity with BSL2 containment guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science degree
5 years research experience in an academic laboratory
3 years autonomous operation of a BD FACSAria cell sorter or BD Influx cell sorter
Experience with computer programming in multiple languages
Familiarity with implementation of BSL3 containment guidelines
Description:
This position will be expected to work a 12:00PM to 8:00PM weekdays schedule.
The incumbent shall be charged with routine maintenance and QC of flow cytometry instrumentation including but not limited to BD FACSAria and BD Influx cell sorters. In addition, the incumbent shall be expected to provide assisted operation of the same systems in support of institutional research projects of varying scope and discipline.
The Research Associate will be expected to maintain the flow cytometry facilities assigned with sufficient supplies and material to support institutional researchers. The Research Associate will be charged with recognizing when issues with CORE operations arise and communicating those issues to CORE management in a timely manner. The Research Associate may be called upon to assist institutional researchers in experimental design, data analysis, and instrument troubleshooting. Other duties may be assigned.
