Summary:
This position is responsible for operation and maintenance of Sony Synergy high-speed cell sorter for PES busy core facility. Assists scientific staff with developing appropriate protocols for experiments involving flow cytometry. Must be proficient in mUlti-laser applications as well as sterile cell sorting. Responsible for data analysis using various flow cytometric software.
Responsibilities:
-Independently operates multi-laser, high-speed cell sorter.
-Responsible for routine maintenance of equipment to ensure proper working condition (i.e. cleaning optics, aligning laser, etc.) and tech development using the Synergy.
-Must maintain schedule in order to keep facility running at peak efficiency.
-Educates staff on flow cytometry principles and capabilities. Responsible for keeping accurate notes.
-Responsible for reviewing literature in order to keep up-to-date with current applications.
-Attends meeting and conferences to stay abreast with latest technologies.
Experience and Required Skills: Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree holder with minimum 2 years of experience .
-Knowledge of FACS principles as well as experience operating FACS sorters.
-Proficient with instrument alignment, calibration and troubleshooting.
-Able to use FACS analysis software (Summit, Winlist and FlowJo) and experience performing single cell sorts and handling sterile cells.
-Requires analytical problem solving experience. • Experience with Sony Biotechnology Synergy and Beckman-Coulter MoFlo flow cytometers preferred.
