
The Flow Cytometry Core Facility (FCCF) at Boston University School of Medicine invites applications for our Director of Cell Sorting position. The successful applicant will work closely with other members of the FCCF and Core Oversight Committee to develop a facility that will service and expand the research goals of the BUMC community.
Primary Duties: (1) Perform cell sorter operations using the Mo-Flo and FACSARIA instruments including troubleshooting/data interpretation assistance to users; (2) Serve as a general flow cytometric consultant, advising users regarding applicable methods/reagents for a wide variety of both analysis and sorting applications; and (3) Contribute to general FCCF facility maintenance and provide staff supervision when applicable.
Other duties: (1) Maintain familiarity with current relevant scientific literature and attend pertinent meetings/conferences; (2) Advise the FCCF staff and the Core Oversight Committee on the needs and future plans of the facility; (3) Adhere to and enforce proper safety practices as well as all general operational policies within the facility; and (4) Collaborate with faculty members in preparation of manuscripts and/or grant applications when applicable.
Required Skills: B.A. or B.S. with five+ years experience running FACSARIA and Mo-Flo instruments. Superior interpersonal skills, excellent multitasking abilities, advanced computer literacy, and a general 'commitment to excellence' is necessary.
