POSTING INFORMATION

Position Description: A Scientist I/II in the Flow Cytometry Core Facility of the ABC Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Department.  The successful candidate will be responsible for FACS sorting services, sample processing for flow cytometry, data acquisition, data analyses, record keeping, report=

ing to project teams.  The candidate will also be responsible for day to day management of flow cytometry facility including scheduling and instrument maintenance.

 

Education Requirements, Number of Years Experience, Specific Skills: B.S. or M.S. or equivalent in Biology or related field. Expertise in flow cytometer operation and maintenance (LSRII/Fortessa, FACSCanto, FACSCalibur, FACS Aria and Accuri), cell sorting and data analysis software (Diva, Cellquest, FlowJo) to enable methods development and maintenance of a state of the art facility is required.

 

Desired Skills: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in flow core facility management, knowledge of processing cells and whole blood for flow cytometric analyses, demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education:

BS & 7+ years of experience or MS & 5+ years of experience. Required to ensure that incumbent has necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to do the job.

 

Minimum Experience / Training Required:

Technical expert that will independently investigate, identify, develop and optimize new methods/ techniques to address critical project needs. Continuously seek to improve existing laboratory methods and processes. Demonstrate mastery of broad range of experimental techniques and methods of data analysis.

 

Significant Work Activities and Conditions

 Continuous sitting for prolonged periods ( more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
