Molecular Technologist Position

The Molecular Oncology Laboratory at Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute in the Washington DC area has an opening for molecular technologist.  

Nichols Institute is one of the country's foremost providers of molecular testing for cancer patients and a leader in new assay and technology development in molecular diagnostics. The rapidly expanding molecular oncology laboratory in Chantilly performs a variety of different clinical  molecular diagnostic assays covering a wide range of human tumors. This position will include performing molecular techniques including DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, real time PCR, Sanger sequencing, pyrosequencing and next gen sequencing  as well as analyzing data and interacting with physicians and scientists in the signout of cases.  The ideal candidate will be able to work in  busy and stimulating environment and to learn a range of new techniques and skills as new assays are introduced.  Depending on prior experience, opportunities are available to train and supervise other technologists or participate in assay development in cooperation with our research and development team .
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree  with a major in laboratory studies or biological, chemical or physical sciences  plus some laboratory or research experience. Preferred Qualifications:  Masters degree with  some clinical molecular laboratory experience.
