
The College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University is seeking applicants for a Research Associate position to support and enhance the growth of a multi-user core flow cytometry/confocal/immunology laboratory. This full-time unclassified position provides University benefits and allows salary support reflecting qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will operate flow cytometers, a high speed cell sorter, and confocal microscopes, use multiplex bead technology and provide backup assistance to diagnostic testing when needed. In addition, the Associate will develop and implement collaborative research on immune responses to vaccines and infectious agents of domestic animals; develop research ideas, design and implement research projects, analyze and interpret data and disseminate new knowledge resulting from research endeavors. Grant preparation experience is required to aid in support of novel discovery and diagnostic test development. The successful applicant will be asked to present seminars on applications of flow cytometry technology, and provide select lectures for DMP 878 Theory and Applications of Flow Cytometry. Experience with flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, luminex bead multiplex technology, PCR or work experience with similar sophisticated complex laboratory instrumentation and technologies is required. MS degree in immunology, biology or microbiology or DVM is required. Preference will be given to those with a PhD, grant writing experience, and adaptable to learn new technologies.
