
Head, Flow Cytometry Facility
A rare opportunity exists for an experienced Flow Cytometry Scientist to join Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI) to manage the Flow Cytometry facility operations and service provision. WEHI is a leading Australian biomedical research facility with 65 cutting edge research laboratories and comprehensive core scientific support including the Flow Cytometry facility housing 6 cell sorters and 8 cytometers.
The successful candidate will manage and develop the facility: overseeing routine operations; providing advice, training and troubleshooting for facility clients; educating research staff and students in cytometry capabilities, data interpretation and techniques; collaborating with scientists to maximise the potential of existing instruments; and ensuring that the facility’s capability is at world best practice.
To be successful applicants will require a relevant post-graduate qualification and experience, preferably PhD plus post-doctoral research in a biomedical field; demonstrated ability in using and maintaining complex cytometry instrumentation; relevant computer competency; up-to-date knowledge of data acquisition technology, cytometry data analysis, and use of fluorescent dyes in biological processes.
Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skills for planning, supervision, teaching, and managing client relationships are essential. Experience in management and staff supervision of a cytometry facility is preferred.
