Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Flow Cytometry

Job Description:

Flow cytometry technologist, CLS, will be responsible for overseeing
and/or performing all aspects of testing from specimen receipt to
reporting of final results according to procedure. Knowledge of regulatory requirements is essential. 5 years of recent flow cyto
metry experience, and California CLS licensure required.

Essential Dutie/Responsibilities:
   - Performing technical and scientific processes and procedures primarily    in the flow cytometry section of the CLIA laboratory, with some additional  duties including pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties.
   - Operating, maintaining and calibrating instrumentation utilized in the
   testing process.
   - Evaluating data for quality, and troubleshooting complex processes
   affecting data acquisition Including specimen integrity and
   identification.
   - Ensuring quality control and quality assurance protocols and
   procedures are followed, as established.
   - Ensuring safety protocols are followed, as established.
   - Assisting in the creation and implementation of laboratory documents
   (ie: Training documents, Standard Operating Procedures).
   - Preparing reagents, as needed.
   - Ensuring proper inventories of consumables and reagents.
   - Developing, or assisting in the development of methods to increase
   quality and productivity.

Other Duties and Requirements:

   - Interact with pathologists and other testing discipline personnel to
   achieve company objectives.
   - Responsible for daily operational workload.
Education:
   - Required to hold a Bachelors of Science degree in Life Sciences.
   - Required to hold an active California state Clinical Laboratory
   Scientist license, or California Licensure eligible.
Experience:
   - Required to have a minimum of 3 years in a CLIA certified, high
   complexity laboratory performing flow cytometry testing.
   - Preferred to have direct experience in daily setup, calibration,
   operation of Beckman Coulter digital flow cytometers.

Specific Skills/Knowledge:
   - Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel
Physical demands required for this position:
   - Able to lift up to 50 pounds
