Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Background in biological and/or physical sciences. Experience in flow cytometry, multi-color assays and sorting cytometers is preferred.

Principal duties:

The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center Flow Cytometry Facility is a core facility providing flow cytometry services, instrumentation and education to over 140 laboratories on the UW Campus. This is a fast-paced work environment that combines cutting edge research and customer service. The UWCCC Flow Cytometry Facility operates two high-speed multi-color sorters, three benchtop flow cytometers and a bioimaging system spread over two locations on campus.

Qualified candidate will be required to operate all of the facility's instrumentation and perform all biological assays being performed by the facility staff. He/She will be responsible for the operation of all equipment in the flow cytometry facility, assisting investigators with data analysis, and providing advice and guidance for the presentation of data in protocols and manuscripts. The facility provides classes and individual instruction to over 140 campus laboratories so interpersonal skills will be essential.

Additional Information:

The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, be adept at customer service and able to handle multiple tasks and distractions.

Must have excellent computer skills.

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring.
