
Position Title:
Scientist / Senior Scientist, Reagent and Assay Development (Flow Cytometry)
Job Description:
The successful candidate will lead the company’s assay development efforts focusing on the application of single-domain antibodies functionalized by sortase technology for quantitative and intracellular flow cytometry. Those reagents and assays are aimed to be developed into high-value kits and related products. He or she will partner closely with other members of the R&D team who specialize in Protein Chemistry, Bioconjugation, Cell Biology, and Immunology.
Primary R&D activities and responsibilities include;
- Working with a multidisciplinary team and contributing to candidate antigen identification, design and recombinant production
- Isolation, purification, characterization and maintenance in culture of mouse and human immune cells.
- Independent design, experimental evaluation and validation of sdAb conjugates for intracellular and quantative flow cytometry and cell sorting applications.
- Discovery, development and implementation of novel fluorescent technologies suitable for antibody conjugation and flow cytometry applications.
- The candidate is anticipated to apply sdAb conjugates in related immunoassay platforms, and to contribute innovative and creative solutions that support immunoassays across programs in multiple diagnostic and therapeutics areas.
- Evaluation and review of experimental data, implementation of quality controls, preparation and presentation of associated documents for the R&D team, external partners, and customers.
- Keeping abreast of recent developments in the field of complex flow cytometry-based technologies and bringing new methods to the team, providing technical leadership and mentorship to the reagent and assay development team.
- Initiate and maintain collaborations with academic and industry scientists to test and utilize our products, and to develop new applications for our products.
Qualifications and experience:
- PhD in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, or academia
- A track record of independent scientific productivity, rigor and excellence as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with multiparametric flow cytometry acquisition and analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership in experimental design, analysis and application in flow cytometry reagent and assay development projects
- Broad experience and familiarity with standard molecular and cell biology techniques, as well as mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques.
- Record of success with effectively handling multiple projects and meeting project timelines, to facilitate working with a multidisciplinary team in a start-up environment with an emphasis on commercial product development.
- A strong understanding of immunobiology of antibodies, biotherapeutics, and antibody characterization assays are considered a plus.

As a priority in the company’s initial phase of growth, there are several open positions in Research and Development. R&D staff will lead the company’s efforts in developing antibody and kit products, with an initial focus on flow cytometry and related areas. In addition to the core responsibility for product development, R&D staff will be expected to assist in the establishment of Manufacturing and to partner effectively with Product Managers.
