PUCL Job# 1034 - flow cytometry tech Scrips (16 May, 2013)

Demonstrates highly specialized skills and training in order to operate and maintain multi-laser instruments used in fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) and analysis. Demonstrates technical expertise to guide facility users in experiments that demand the Flow Cytometry Core Facility resources. Performs daily calibration, operation, maintenance and basic repair of one high-speed cell sorter and one LSRII high-speed analyzer by Becton Dickinson, a Gallios analyzer by Beckman Coulter, the Hemavet Blood Analyzer and a Laser Microdissection Scope by Leica Microsystems. Performs daily calibration, operation and basic maintenance of above instrumentation.  Performs low, medium, and high-speed bulk and custom multi-parameter cell sorting of various cell lines, cell types, and microorganisms including human and mouse.  Performs multi-parameter analysis using various software including: DiVa and FlowJo. Provides training and assistance to facility users in experimental design, instrument operation, and software analysis. Provides training and assistance to select users for operation of the BD LSRII analyzer. Assists fellow operators in trouble-shooting of sorting experiments. Performs other duties as assigned.
