PUCL Job # 1029-1035 - POSITION Reopened ..Staff Scientist I -Charleston, South Carolina (posted 05/16/13)

The Hollings Cancer Center of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a Staff Scientist I position with the Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting (FCCS) shared resource. The Hollings Cancer Center is a NCI designated center with a strong commitment to fundamental and translational research in the areas of gene/drug discovery, lipid signaling, cancer immunology and cancer control and prevention. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of hands-on cell sorting with MoFlo or FACSAria cytometers and be experienced in cytometer maintenance and troubleshooting. The ideal applicant should hold a graduate level degree in the biologic sciences, but practical experience may substitute for education. Applicants must have a working knowledge of laboratory techniques including sample preparation for flow cytometry and experience with biohazard research. The incumbent will offer guidance on flow cytometry protocols, train users in analytic cytometry and advise on cutting-edge techniques to ensure that experiments are properly designed and competitive within the scientific community.  The FCCS seeks to employ inquisitive and creative researchers who will help our facility provide cutting-edge research support.
