CELLERANT THERAPEUTICS, INC., a privately held biopharmaceutical company in the San Francisco Bay Area is developing innovative first-in-class cell-based and antibody therapies for unmet medical needs in oncology/hematological malignancies and blood-related disorders. In 2010 the Company was awarded a $153M contract from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) of the Department of Health and Human Services for the development of their lead program CLT-008, which is currently in a Phase 1 clinical trial. The contract will provide significant funding for development of CLT-008, including all stages of clinical development, manufacturing and process development.

 

General Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Flow Cytometry / FACS Specialist to join our research team in San Carlos, CA. Primary purpose of the position it to maintain and operate flow cytometry instrumentation as part of the development of our lead program, CLT-008, for treatment of oncology/hematological malignancies and blood-related disorders including acute radiation syndrome.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join our Research and Development team and the responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to: 

  • Operate FACSAria II cell sorters as well as other BD Biosciences and Beckman Coulter flow cytometry analyzers.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshoot and propose solutions to technical and experimental flow cytometry issues.
  • Train and supervise laboratory staff and users of flow cytometry instrumentation.
  • Assist research personnel with project design and analysis and provide technical assistance to research staff.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in flow cytometric techniques and develop, report, and implement relevant techniques.
  • Actively participate in a team and goal oriented environment.

 

     

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. preferably in biological sciences with 3 years of relevant industrial or academic experience with research-oriented flow cytometry. Experience with clinical flow cytometry or manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Prior experience with Becton Dickinson and/or Beckman Coulter instrumentation is necessary. Hands-on experience with FACSAria or other cell sorters is highly desirable.
  • Experience with developing new assays from start to finish, panel design and development, and analysis using FlowJo software is required.
  • Position requires excellent technical skills and team work with colleagues and researchers, maintenance and troubleshooting of flow cytometers and cell sorters.
  • Candidate must have excellent record keeping skills as well written and verbal communication skills; organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work in a team environment are required.
