
Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a medical technologist for the flow cytometry and bone marrow area within the Division of Hematopathology of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The flow cytometry and bone marrow technologist performs the following activities:
- Completes all aspects of leukemia-lymphoma immunophenotying, including sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and data analysis.
- Performs quantitative T and B cell subset analysis and CD34 stem cell analysis.
- Performs bone marrow differential cell counts.
- Prepares special stains on bone marrow aspirates (iron, enzyme cytochemistry).
- Assists with the development, optimization, and validation of new tests.
- Helps with administrative duties including writing and maintaining procedures, completing proficiency testing, and maintaining supply inventory as needed.
- Prepares reagent stock and working solutions.
- Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials and consumables.
- Performs other related duties as needed and deemed by supervisors.
Opportunities to learn and perform other flow cytometry assays such as the flow cytometric HLA crossmatch exist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Physical/Life Science with a minimum of 2 years experience in Hematology, Immunology, or Flow Cytometry
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or current categorical certification in the one of the clinical laboratory disciplines (Hematology, or Immunology) with ASCP or ability to obtain prior to start date.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, day shift, rotating weekends and holidays
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
