UT MD Anderson Cancer Center’s South Campus Flow Cytometry & Cell Sorting Core Facility is hiring a Flow Cytometry Specialist. This lab supports the research of more than 200 area principal investigators working in all aspects of cancer research. The lab has 3 cell sorters (2 Aria II’s and a 5 laser Influx) and 6 analysis platforms (LSR Fortessa, Canto II, Pathway 435 Bioimager, Calibur, Scan, and BCI XL). Facility staff manage a busy schedule, operate equipment, train users, troubleshoot instruments, and analyze data. This position requires excellent technical skills and teamwork with colleagues and researchers, operation and troubleshooting of flow cytometers, bioimagers and cell sorters. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, hardworking, responsible individual, dedicated to high standards and integrity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The individual must be capable of executing tasks in an organized manner in a busy core laboratory environment. Salary & job title will be contingent on experience.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years flow cytometry experience, preferably working in a core facility with a wide variety of flow applications.
Detailed understanding of flow cytometry principles.
Experienced operator of cytometers, preferably cell sorters.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
BS/MS in a scientific discipline.
Proficiency with PC and Mac computers, flow cytometry and business software.
