
CyTOF Specialist
The Flow Cytometry Core Facility at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (LJI) is expanding and looking for an individual to operate the CyTOF 2 Mass Cytometer. The CyTOF 2 Mass Cytometer combines mass spectroscopy and flow cytometry for high-speed acquisition of multi-parametric data, with simultaneous detection of 30+ metal-conjugated antibodies with minimal signal overlap. The CyTOF 2 was acquired through a successful High-End Instrumentation S10 application and is scheduled for installation in early October 2014.
The CyTOF Specialist will work alongside faculty, research scientists, and postdoctoral fellows to design assays, process samples, and analyze high dimensional data produced by the CyTOF 2.
Job Description:
- Daily management and operation of the CyTOF 2
- Establish standardized operating procedures (SOP)
- Assist users in experimental design and setup
- Train and educate CyTOF 2 users
- Set-up and maintain antibody bank and reagent base
- Prepare antibody-metal conjugates, optimize and titrate antibodies
- Data analysis – work with Bioinformatics team and collaborators
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in scientific field and a minimum of 5-8 years work experience is required, or Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, life sciences or related field
- Prior experience with mass cytometry required, flow cytometry experience a plus
- Ability to learn new techniques and troubleshoot assays
- Good team player, independent, communication and interpersonal skills A MUST, excellent customer service skills
- Advantageous skills: bioinformatics
