Re: Forward Scatter detection

Hans-

I cannot give you any relevant suggestions on how to improve your forward
scatter sensitivity since I've only looked at B-D equipment (we are able to
detect small particles; about .65 microns is as low as we have tried).

You did mention in your note that "FS ( = size)". I'd like to point out that, at
least for the B-D optical geometry, this isn't always true. For particles above
2 microns, the FSc signals are proportional to size, but for particles around 1
micorn the signals get stronger again before they decrease. From our limited
observations this reoccurs as the size of particles get even smaller.

This may be relevant to you if you are using the FSc signals for size
measurements.
